Outstanding teamwork, a quality product and solid commitment to the community saw civil construction company Ostwald Bros named 2008 Business of the Year at the recent Dalby Business Excellence Awards.

Ostwald Bros was awarded the title for the second year running after another year of robust growth across all sectors of the company.

Accepting the award, CEO Brendan Ostwald paid tribute to family, staff and the community for their support.

“Thank-you for recognising the hard work and commitment that has gone into creating a company we are very proud of.

“It’s been an amazing journey from small beginnings to where we are today and none of it could have been achieved without the dedication, enthusiasm and sheer hard work of many people.

“I would like to say thanks to our staff, their family and friends who have provided the encouragement that enabled them to succeed, and thanks to our customers who placed their confidence in us.

“I would like to make special mention of two people that have given us the platform to follow our dreams, Mum and Dad, your support and encouragement has been wonderful, thank-you.”

General Manager Matt Ostwald said he was overwhelmed to have won a second year, extending thanks to the Dalby business community.

“The win is a testament to our staff and core business values. We have good suppliers, great customers and people who are happy in their work and this is why we have been able to achieve what we have achieved.”

Dalby Chamber of Commerce and Industry manager Sarah Grant said: “It was a deserved win in terms of the company’s expansion, the support it offers to staff and the amount they give back to the community.

“That’s what the judges were looking for and Ostwald Bros excelled in all these areas.”

In 2008 the company has continued to gain major projects, expanding its capabilities to provide greater complementary services.

Its improved structural concreting capacity enabled Ostwald Bros to complete precision concreting projects such as the Dalby Bio-Refinery and Braemar 2 power project.

Ostwald Bros was also recently selected to join an alliance team to work with the Northern Territory and Australian Governments on major housing projects in 75 indigenous communities throughout the NT and surrounding islands over the next five years.
