The Curragh mine, operated by Wesfarmers Curragh Pty Ltd, covers approximately 2,600 hectares of the Bowen Basin region and is one of Australia’s largest independent coal producers.

As a subcontractor for Downer EDI, Ostwald Bros is completing major earthworks at the Curragh mine site. Our crews are diverting Blackwater Creek to the eastern boundary of the mining lease and are involved in approximately 10km of bulk earthworks, the removal of around 1 million cubic metres of soil, and haul road relocation.

Rehabilitation works conform to Curragh’s high standards of environmental performance and Ostwald Bros has engaged a specialist subcontractor to rehabilitate the creek with local (endemic) and native species not generally available commercially.

Ostwald Bros deployed considerable plant and equipment to carry out the development project.
