Ostwald Bros. was contracted to complete 30 km of track formation including all earthworks and drainage structures (excluding the pre-pressed concrete bridges) for the Bauhinia rail line stretching from Queensland Rail’s Blackwater Coal system to Xstrata’s new Rolleston Coal Mine.

Works involved earthworks to 700,000 cubic metre material cut to fill with material selection monitored to meet the modern design criteria. Efficient time management saw the project handed over to the client two months ahead of schedule enabling the final track to be laid before the expected completion date.
