Ostwald Bros was a major player in the initial development phase of the Spring Gully Gas-Fired Power Station.  Origin Energy contracted OBC to prepare the site for the coal seam gas development – a 12 month project involving the movement of 1,000,000 m³ of material.  OBC carried out extensive civil construction works involving access roads, drainage, landscaping and rock protection as well as the construction five evaporation ponds. The high salt content of the water demanded specialist supervision and the team worked closely with Origin to meet strict specifications. The specification on embankment fill required a minimum of 98 per cent compaction and 1 per cent of OMC. OBC achieved this target with minimal rework and a near 100 per cent rating on testing results. To attain this high level precision the project was managed with GPS machine control and GPS control of all testing locations.
